PRESS STATEMENT - Sinar Harian: PMB Tijari Targets RM150 Million to Assist Financially Constrained Entrepreneurs

22-04-2025

SHAH ALAMPelaburan Mara Berhad (PMB), through its subsidiary PMB Tijari Berhad, is targeting RM150 million in financing this year to assist entrepreneurs with limited financial capacity.

Acting Chief Executive Officer, Norati Ibrahim, said the amount involves up to 100 potential entrepreneurs who may receive financial assistance through various financing products offered by the company.

According to her, as of 2021, 12 companies have successfully received aid, involving RM40 million in funds.

“This is different from last year's allocation, which involved almost RM210 million in financing. The decrease is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which halted the execution of many projects.

“This year, we aim to finance RM150 million and help between 70 to 100 entrepreneurs, with the **maximum financing limit per company set at RM5 million,” she said.

She shared this during the PMB Tijari Berhad Entrepreneur Financing Offer Letter Signing Ceremony held at Wisma PMB on Friday.

Also in attendance were MARA Chairman, Datuk Azizah Mohd Dun; Pelaburan Mara Chairman, Datuk Azrulnizam Abd Aziz; PMB Tijari Chairman, Fauzi Rahmat; and Acting Group CEO of Pelaburan Mara, Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin.

Furthermore, Norati highlighted that since its establishment in 2014, PMB Tijari has successfully financed nearly 210 entrepreneurs across various sectors, involving close to RM400 million in total funds.

She noted that it is their mandate to support entrepreneurs who lack the financial capacity to proceed with procurement projects, even though they have been awarded contracts or appointed as vendors by the government or private sector.

“Our target group consists of those often overlooked or unsupported by banks and financial institutions.

“These entrepreneurs have different financial needs, so we focus on providing financing to companies with confirmed tenders, purchase orders, or contracts, but lack strong financial backing to grow,” she said.

She added that PMB Tijari continuously monitors the performance and achievements of the companies to ensure they can repay their loans.

“Our goal is for these supported companies to grow strong and successful, potentially even to the point of being listed on Bursa Malaysia.

“We believe this synergy will help increase the number of Bumiputera companies listed in the future.

“As part of the Pelaburan Mara Group, we fully support MARA’s aspiration to elevate Bumiputera entrepreneurs and expand their businesses,” she said.
